Reinitiation of the Nordic Union for Quaternary Research (NORDQUA) in 2014.

At 17:30 on 9 January 2014 at an open meeting at the 31st Nordic Geological Winter Meeting, the Nordic Union for Quaternary Research (NORDQUA) was reborn.

All present were in support of restarting the association, as proposed by Eiliv Larsen (NGU) and Helena Alexandersson (Lund University) and an email list of members was created. It was decided to keep membership free and Norwegian members from University of Bergen and NGU volunteered to organise the 'first' excursion in to Sunnmøre, Norway. A 'second' excursion to southern Sweden was organised in 2015 by Mark Johnson and colleagues from Gothenberg University. Excursions to Finnish Lapland and Iceland have also been planned.

Eiliv Larsen (NGU) and Helena Alexandersson (Lund University), served as Leader and Secretary of NORDQUA, respectively, with Fredrik Høgaas (NGU) as webmaster, until 2016. Niko Putkinen (GTK) and Outi Hyttinen (University of Helsinki) took over as Leader and Secretary during the 32nd Nordic Geological Winter Meeting in Helsinki. In 2018, at the 33rd Nordic Geological Winter Meeting in Copenhagen, the current secretariat team took over leadership of NORDQUA.
