SUMMARY:2023 Glacial Isostatic Adjustment Training School
DESCRIPTION:The application window will open on 1 November 2022. A training school focused on exploring glacial isostatic adjustment (GIA) modelling will be held from 3-7 July 2023 at Lantmäteriet in Gävle\, Sweden. The program will include lectures and practical exercises aimed at investigating the interactions between solid Earth deformation\, ice mass change\, and associated sea-level and geoid variations. Students will complete homework exercises utilizing freely available modelling software and will have the opportunity to spend one-to-one time with leading researchers in the GIA community while working through examples in class. A field trip to examine records of land uplift and sea level change will be included. \n

SUMMARY:Create and Share Better Science Graphics
DESCRIPTION:iEarth and the s-Ink.org team are pleased to present a short-course on creating open-source science graphics. The course will be held digitally and is open to all students at iEarth partners (UiB\, UiO\, UiT\, UNIS). Staff members are welcome to apply\, subject to spaces. Sign up at https://nettskjema.no/a/280076 \nGeoscientist and visualization expert Dr Fabio Crameri (Undertone.design\, Switzerland) will share the basics of good\, simple graphic design. You will then put your ideas to work by creating a science graphic you can use for talks\, reports\, teaching and more. In a follow-up session\, you will receive feedback on your creations and have the chance to share them with the world (with attribution to you!) via the newly launched\, community-driven s-Ink.org graphics portal. We are looking to increase the type and number of geoscience content hosted – take a look and see what inspires you! \n–> https://s-ink.org/

SUMMARY:NORDQUA field excursion 2022
DESCRIPTION:Late Glacial glaciotectonics and marine limit shorelines of the Lower Borgarfjörður region\, West Iceland.\nThe Lower Borgarfjörður region in West Iceland has been key for understanding the deglaciation of Iceland and the collapse of the Iceland Ice Sheet in Bølling times\, as well as for deciphering Younger Dryas and Early Holocene (Preboreal) glacier dynamics. The excursion will visit marine limit shorelines and deltas in Akrafjall and Skorradalur\, the spectacular Skorholtsmelar end-moraine complex\, and the glaciotectonics of the Melabakkar-Ásbakkar coastal cliffs. \nSign-up: https://jfi.is/ngwm-2022/#excursions
